ASHLAND, Va. - The Randolph-Macon baseball team is ranked as high as No. 9 in the three national Division III polls.
The Yellow Jackets stayed ninth in the Perfect Game poll. The Yellow Jackets moved from ninth to tenth in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball poll. R-MC dropped from No. 9 to No. 12 in the D3baseball.com poll.
R-MC went 2-1 on the road last week. The Yellow Jackets won 11-3 at Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday and took the opener of a doubleheader at Bridgewater 16-7 to extend their win streak to seven. That streak was snapped in the nightcap at BC, a 7-5 win for the Eagles.
The Yellow Jackets are 16-5 overall after their 13-5 victory at Ferrum on Tuesday evening. R-MC is 6-1 in ODAC play, good for second in the league standings.
Under head coach Ray Hedrick, the Yellow Jackets have been ranked for 29 consecutive weeks, dating back to March 17, 2015.
Randolph-Macon has three conference contests remaining this week. The Yellow Jackets play at Hampden-Sydney on Thursday at 4 pm. R-MC returns home to Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park on Saturday for a noon doubleheader with first-place Washington & Lee, 18-6 overall and 9-0 in ODAC play.
