R-MC Baseball as High as No. 11 in National Polls

ASHLAND, Va. - The Randolph-Macon baseball team is ranked as high as No. 11 in the latest three national Division III polls.

The Yellow Jackets moved to 11th in the Perfect Game poll. R-MC was No. 14 in the D3baseball.com poll. The Yellow Jackets moved to 18th in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball poll.

R-MC went 1-2 last week. The Yellow Jackets defeated Hampden-Sydney 13-5 on Wednesday before dropping a pair of extra-inning affairs to No. 1 Shenandoah on Friday and Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets are 24-10 overall and 12-6 in ODAC play, good for third in the league standings.

Under head coach Ray Hedrick, the Yellow Jackets have been ranked for 33 consecutive weeks, dating back to March 17, 2015.

Randolph-Macon has four regular-season games remaining, all on the road. The Yellow Jackets will play at York this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. R-MC will have a noon ODAC doubleheader at Roanoke on Saturday, April 29. The Yellow Jackets will play at sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins on Monday, May 1 at 4 p.m. The ODAC Tournament will be played May 4-7 in Lynchburg, Va.
