Eliza vanderWoude represented Randolph-Macon’s IHSA team at the Zone 4 Finals on April 8 at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C. Eliza qualified for Zones with her outstanding performance throughout the season in the Intermediate Flat division, earning more than 36 points for the team during the year.
Wasting no time kicking off their spring season, the R-MC Equestrian Team brought home the win at the ODU IHSA show this Sunday, February 12. Consistently strong rides from the whole team, from Walk/Trot to Open, gave the Yellow Jackets the lead over the nine teams competing.
The Randolph-Macon IHSA team ended the fall season on a high note at ODU this past Saturday. Julia Bain, ’20 of Nokesville, VA book-ended her season with a tie for High Point Rider (Bain was High Point Rider at the first show of the season as well). The team was ranked third overall for the day and holds that spot in the Region for the season thus far, close on the heels of Liberty University and the University of Mary Washington.
The YJ Equestrians spent this past weekend on the road, showing at The College of William and Mary on both Saturday and Sunday. Fantastic rides from both veteran riders and new members contributed to strong finishes for RMC on both days.
It was an extremely busy and successful weekend for R-MC Equestrian. The team dominated at the VCU hosted IHSA show on Saturday with the blue ribbons coming fast and furious. Savannah Smith, ’18 from King William, Va. took top billing in her first Open flat class and added to her growing point total in Intermediate Fences by taking first in that class as well.
The R-MC women’s volleyball team closed out the Carnegie Mellon Invitational with a 3-0 win over Bethany. The Yellow Jackets finished the Invitational 3-1 with wins over Bethany, John Carroll and Mount Union.
