R-MC Runs Win Streak to Eight with 85-74 ODAC Road Win at Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, VA –  Calvin Croskey led five Yellow Jackets in double-figures with 19 points as Randolph-Macon earned its eighth straight win, topping Lynchburg, 85-74, Wednesday night in ODAC Men's Basketball action.

R-MC (14-3 / 6-2 ODAC) also got double-figures from Andre Simon who had 15 points and Lamar Giggetts had 13 points, all of which came in the second-half.  Adam Desgain also had 13 and Dylan Cole chipped in with 10.  Simon also grabbed nine rebounds and Desgain snared seven boards to help R-MC to a 44-38 edge on the glass.

With LC leading 16-15 with 12:20 to in the first-half, the Hornets used an 11-0 run to open up a 27-15 advantage with just over eight minutes to go.

After a Manny Hernandez bucket made the score 33-21 with six minutes to play in the half, R-MC went on a 17-3 run to close the first stanza, with nine of those points coming from Simon.  

The Jackets took a 38-36 edge into the lock room after Desgain converted a pair of free-throws with just five ticks on the clock.   

LC came back to tie the game at 48-48 on a Nate Campbell free-throw with 14:24 to go in the game.   On R-MC's ensuing possession, Jamie Robinson hit a layup and sparked what proved to be 10 straight points by Randolph-Macon, the final being a bucket by Dylan Cole with 12:46 to play.

Although R-MC maintained the lead for the remainder of the contest, LC was able to cut it to six points after a pair of free-throws by Harry West Jr. made the score 68-62 with just under five minutes to play.  

A bucket by Simon and two free-throws by Cole vaulted R-MC back in front by double-digits with four minutes to go.  The Jackets would then make 7-of-8 chances from the charity stripe in the final minute to seal the win.

LC (10-7 / 5-4 ODAC) got a team-high 18 points from Austin Chillemi.  Michael Wims had 13 points, while Campbell had 12 points and team-best seven boards.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts archrival Hampden-Sydney at 2:00 p.m.  Tickets are sold out.
