ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon College Men's Basketball team picked up a key, 70-52, ODAC win over Randolph Saturday afternoon in Ashland.
R-MC wraps up the regular season winners of eight of its last nine games to vault their record to 16-9 overall and 11-5 in the ODAC. Randolph who is currently ranked No. 7 in this week's NCAA South Region Poll, falls to 20-5 overall and 11-5 in the league.
Randolph-Macon got a game-high 13 points from Andre Simon. Akeem Holmes and Lamar Giggetts each had nine points, while Marcus Badger, Connor Sullivan, Dylan Cole and Joe Hassell scored eight points each for the Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets held a 42-32 edge on the boards. Cole had 11 boards, while Simon had seven and Holmes grabbed five.
The Yellow Jackets defense held Randolph to 28.9% from the field on 13-of-45 shooting. R-MC held the ODAC leading scorer Colton Hunt (24.8 ppg) to six points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field. Corey Brown and Chris Battaglia each had 11 points and Jason Eddie added 10.
A Evan Horn three-pointer put the WildCats up 17-12 with 9:42 to go in the first-half. R-MC would hold Randolph to just one field goal the rest of the opening stanza as it was able to open up a 31-24 at the intermission.
The Yellow Jackets held Randolph to just 23.1% from the floor on 6-of-26 shooting in the second half, as they pulled away for the win.
