Struhar, McDonagh Receive ODAC Accolades

FOREST, Va. - Junior Kirby Struhar (Sterling, Va./Park View) was named the Ted Keller Sportsman of the Year for the second time and junior Matthew McDonagh (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) was selected All-ODAC Third Team as the conference released its 2017 post-season awards.

Struhar shared the award with senior Andrew Butts of Roanoke. Struhar also won the honor during his freshman season in 2015. The award is named after former R-MC football and golf coach, Ted Keller.

Struhar tied for 17th in the individual standings out of 54 golfers at the 2017 ODAC Championship. His three-round score was 235 (74-79-82) and he helped the Yellow Jackets finish fourth out of 11 squads in the team standings. Struhar was second on the team in scoring average for the season at 77.6. He earned medalist honors at the Builders Invitational in Myrtle Beach in early March.

McDonagh led the Yellow Jackets in scoring average at 77.4. He recorded one Top 10 finish in nine events and his low round of the season was 71. McDonagh shot 240 (72-81-87) in the three-round ODAC Championship.
