McDonagh Tied for First for R-MC Men's Golf after Round 1 of ODAC Championship

WINTERGREEN, Va. - Junior Matthew McDonagh (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) shot even-par 72 and is tied for first out of 54 individuals after the first round of the 2017 ODAC Championship on the Stoney Creek Golf Course.

The Yellow Jackets are fourth in the team standings out of 11 squads. The three teams ahead of R-MC are ranked in the Top 25 by Golfstat.com: No. 19 Guilford in first at 294, No. 14 Washington & Lee at 302 and No. 24 Hampden-Sydney at 306.

McDonagh had five birdies, including four on the back nine.

Junior Kirby Struhar (Sterling, Va./Park View) was tied for fourth, two shots behind McDonagh at 74, followed by sophomore Trey Razzetti (Glen Allen, Va./Benedictine) at 79, freshman Alex Nelson (Weems, Va./Lancaster) at 83 and freshman Tom Schaffer (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) at 89. Struhar had a pair of birdies, while Razzetti recorded three birdies and one eagle.

Round 2 is scheduled to be played on Monday, April 24, with the third and final round on Tuesday, April 25.
