ASHLAND, Va. – Senior midfielder Jason Andrews (Hereford, MD / Hereford) and sophomore Nick Benhoff (Phoenix, MD / Dulaney) finished the day with a combined 10 goals to help lead R-MC to a 18-8 victory over Shenandoah this afternoon in ODAC Men's Lacrosse action.
Andrews scored the first goal of the day six minutes into the contest assisted by senior Kyle Snodderly (Reistetown, MD / Franklin). Benhoff would win the ensuing faceoff and score unassisted to give the Yellow Jackets (7-6, 3-3) the early 2-0 lead. Three goals by SU and an additional Jackets' goal by Benhoff would knot the game 3-3 at the end of the first period.
R-MC netted five goals in the second stanza to go up 8-5 by intermission as goals were credited to Nolan Clark (Annapolis, MD / St. Mary's), Benhoff, Andrews (2), and senior midfielder Justin Butler (Ocean City, MD / Worcester Prep). The Jackets continued their momentum through the second half, posting seven more goals than the Hornets to bring home 18-8 Senior Day victory. During those periods, Snodderly, Andrews (2), Ryan Davidson (Logan Township, MD / Kingsway Regional) (2), Joseph Edwards (Glen Allen, VA / Collegiate School), Benhoff, and Philip Goss (Joppa, MD / John Carroll) scored for Macon, while senior attack-man Sam Johnson (Yardley, PA / Holy Ghost Prep) recorded his first two goals of the season.
The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team returns to action this Wednesday April 16 as they travel to Lynchburg for a 7:00 pm ODAC contest.
