FARMVILLE, Va. – Seven different R-MC men's lacrosse players scored in the 12-9 loss to Hampden-Sydney on Saturday afternoon. Senior Sam Mayer (Severna Park, Md./ Severna Park) led the Yellow Jackets in the game with one goal and two assists.
Sydney scored the first goal in the opening period of the game. The Yellow Jackets would score the last two goals of the period as junior Tait Buttrey (Damascus, Md./ Damascus) and junior Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./ Roswell) each scored. Buttrey scored his first goal of the season while Keepers increased his tally to 18.
The Tigers would take a 5-3 lead in the second period before juniors Alex Camilliere (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) and Miles Muncie (Midlothian, Va./ Midlothian) scored, leveling the score at 5-5 going into half time.
Sydney would outscore the Yellow Jackets 7-3 in the second half to improve to 8-3 and 2-1 in the ODAC, while Randolph-Macon falls to 5-4 and 2-1 in the ODAC.
Senior Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./ E.C. Glass) made 13 saves in the game on 43 shots faced. Junior Kyle Geblein (Hagerstown, Md./ Smithsburg) led the defense for the Yellow Jackets, causing three turnovers, a team high.
Camilliere and Muncie led the team with two goals. Mayer led the team with three points including two assists, bringing his total up to 26 for the season.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Wednesday, March 29th with a road match against Methodist at 4 p.m.
