Lutz Named To Scholar All-South Region Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Men's Soccer senior Bryan Lutz (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) has been recognized as a top scholar-athlete by the United Soccer Coaches. Lutz was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-South Region Team.

Lutz is double-majoring in business and economics and is part of the economics honor society, Omicron Delta Epsilon and Gamma Sigma Alpha, the honor society for Greek men and women with a GPA above 3.5. Lutz has been on the Dean's List each semester at Randolph-Macon. He is also the 2015 recipient of the Douglas W. Foard Phi Beta Kappa Sophomore Award, which honors a sophomore with a GPA above 3.5.

Lutz was also named a COSIDA Academic All-District team member for District 5, which encompasses Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

On the field, Lutz completes the 2017 season as the top goal-scorer on the team with eight goals. He added three assists to total 19 points. Lutz finished with the third-most goals in the conference as well as the fourth-most points. Four of his goals were game winners, including a double-overtime header to beat Catholic on September 20 – a match that was two minutes away from being declared a tie. Lutz leaves R-MC with 19 goals scored and seven assists to total 45 points. Lutz's 19 goals are the most by any R-MC player since 2004. Lutz was also named to the All-ODAC First Team and was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Atlantic Region Third Team.
