Men's Tennis Falls to Hampden-Sydney 5-4

ASHLAND, Va. – A five hour thrilling men's tennis match at the Banks Tennis Center ended with a 5-4 loss to Hampden-Sydney on Friday afternoon. Senior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela/ Briar Woods) led the Yellow Jackets, picking up two wins.

Senior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela/ Briar Woods) and freshman Jack Aprahamian (Richmond, Va./ Trinity) won at number #3 doubles 9-8. Bordas and Aprahamian saved three match points in the tiebreaker and won 13-11 to win the match.

In singles, Bordas was first off the court at number five. Bordas beat Levy Young by a score of 6-1, 6-1.

Next off for the Yellow Jackets was senior Alex Curnow (Culpepper, Va./ Midlothian), who beat Trent Singleton 6-4, 6-4.

Three singles matches then went into a third set with the team score tied at 3-3. Hampden-Sydney edged the match winning at #1, #2 and #6 singles.

Senior Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va./ Menchville) won his match at number four singles in three sets. He won the first set 6-0 then fell 6-7 but fought back winning the third set 7-6.

R-MC men's tennis recognized the graduating seniors of Bordas, Curnow, McCroskey, Phillip Terrono (Richmond, Va./ Deep Run) and PJ Costello (Virginia Beach, Va./ Cox).

The team will find out their opponents after the ODAC weekend results.
