SALEM, VA – The Randolph-Macon College Softball team was defeated 6-3 in game two of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference game by no. 17 Virginia Wesleyan. The Yellow Jackets will now face Shenandoah at 11:00 a.m. on April 27th on field three at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va.
After two scoreless innings, Virginia Wesleyan lit up the scoreboard first with a two run third inning. Season Dailey singled to centerfield to plate Kelly Keys and advance to Kristina Karagiorgis to third, but she scored on a Randolph-Macon error.
VWC tacked on one more run in the top of the fifth inning to take a 3-0 advantage. The Marlins continued their run in the top of the sixth with three more scores capped by a Higginbotham three run home run.
R-MC put together a late rally in the bottom of the sixth inning with a Katie Woody three run home run to center field to drive home Sharese Jarvis and Madison Gilman and cut the Marlin lead in half, but that is as close as the Yellow Jackets would get.
