ASHLAND, VA - Randolph-Macon College Head Women's Golf Coach Leighann Albaugh has announced the 2012 inaugural 2012 fall schedule. The Yellow Jackets will play in three events this fall. "I am proud of the strength of competition that the team will face this fall; it sets a precedent of excellence for the future of the program," said Albaugh.
R-MC opened the 2012 fall season at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational on September 9-10 that was held at the Towson Golf & Country Club. This event marked the first women's golf tournament participation in R-MC history.
The Yellow Jackets were paced by freshman Olivia Bowling who carded a team best 86 on day two, three strokes better than her first round score. Bowling wrapped up her first collegiate event with a 183. "Nerves were definitely a factor coming out of the gate. I am proud of the way the team conducted themselves on the course," said Albaugh.
The women will then travel to Lexington, Virginia on October 1st to participate in the two day Washington and Lee Invitational to be held at the Lexington Country Club. The Yellow Jackets will conclude the fall slate by heading down to Destin, Florida to The Sandestin Resort to compete in the GolfWeek NCAA Fall Preview October 14-16.
The Yellow Jackets will host its own tournament, the Randolph-Macon Invitational, during the spring season on March 23-24.
