ASHLAND, Va.—Sophomore Olivia Bowling (Charlotte Hall, MD/St. Mary’s Ryken) was named Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women’s Golf Player of the Week following the Preview at the Barn event Sunday in Conover, NC.
In what was in essence a preview of the ODAC championship set, Bowling finished first overall (78, +6) in the competition which included 18 players from Washington & Lee, Bridgewater, Eastern Mennonite, Hollins, and R-MC. Her efforts helped lift Randolph-Macon to the top spot for the weekend finishing 326, +38 overall.
Bowling was also recognized for her performance in the William & Mary Invitational at The Plantation Course at Kingsmill earlier in the week. She finished tied for 22nd to lead the women's golf team to an eighth-place finish in Williamsburg.
Bowling shot a five-over 76 to finish the three-round event at 233. She scored better than 24 Division I golfers.
Bowling and the women’s golf program will head to Lexington October 7-8 to participate in the Washington & Lee Invitational.
