FOREST, Va. – Randolph-Macon junior Olivia Bowling (Charlotte Hall, Md./St. Mary’s Ryken) has been named the inaugural Player of the Week in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) for women’s golf for the 2014-15 academic year.
Bowling, the two-time ODAC Player of the Year, shot a two-under 70 in the final round on Sunday to take medalist honors out of 63 golfers at the NYU Invitational.
Bowling fired an even-par 72 on Saturday before Sunday’s 70 to finish the tournament at two-under 142. She was four shots better than second-place Michelle Peng of Middlebury.
In their first tournament of the fall, the Yellow Jackets finished fourth out of 12 teams. R-MC improved by five strokes in the second round (333-328—661). Host NYU took first at 620.
The Yellow Jackets continue their fall slate this weekend at the Chesapeake Bay Invitational at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md.
