R-MC Women's Tennis Scores 5-4 Victory Over the Hornets

ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon Women's Tennis (3-2 / 2-1 ODAC) team claimed a hard fought 5-4 victory over Shenandoah Tuesday at the Banks Tennis Complex.

The Yellow Jackets picked up a win in Women's doubles competition when the team of Angelina Sportelli and Courtney Owens scored an 8-1 victory.

Randolph-Macon Women's Tennis rallied in singles play, picking up wins in four of six matches. Sportelli defeated Shannon Allin 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles contest. With the win, Sportelli improves to 4-1 on the season.

Olayemisi Ogunshina defeated Amy Rapp 6-1, 6-3 and Jane Oh picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Amber Lake.

With the team score tied 4-4, R-MC's Caty-Betz Holcomb entered the third set of her match against Kayla Green. The junior co-captain had dropped her first set 2-6 but rallied in the second set to win 7-5. Holcomb controlled the deciding set 6-2 to secure Randolph-Macon's 5-4 victory.

The Yellow Jackets Women's Tennis team returns to the court Friday, March 15th when they travel to Washington and Lee for a 4:00 match.
