Randolph-Macon Edges Catholic 5-4

ASHLAND, Va. – Freshman Kelsie Grice (Hoover, Ala./Charlotte Country Day) earned a victory in both singles and doubles as Randolph-Macon nipped Catholic 5-4 at the Banks Tennis Center.

Grice teamed with senior Olayemisi Ogunshina (Baltimore, Md./Wilde Lake) to win at No. 2 doubles. The Cardinals (3-1) captured the other two doubles matches to take an early 2-1 advantage.

At No. 2 singles, Grice downed Eliana Martinez 6-2, 6-1. Angelina Sportelli (No. 1) and Toni McDonald (No. 3) also won singles matches for the Yellow Jackets (1-0).

With the match even at 4-4, freshman Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./Prince George) defeated Isabel Tanco 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles to give the Jackets the win.

R-MC heads to Fredericksburg for the weekend for the ITA Women's Regional Championship.
