R-MC Posts 8-1 Win over VWC

ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's tennis team won all three doubles points and five of six singles points in posting an 8-1 ODAC victory over Virginia Wesleyan Thursday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center.

Freshmen Sarah Hinson (Nashville, N.C./Northern Nash) and Hannah Trueblood (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) did not lose a game. Hinson won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 Singles and Trueblood recorded the same score at No. 6 Singles. They combined to register an 8-0 victory at No. 3 Doubles for the Yellow Jackets (6-1, 3-0).

Sophomores Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./Prince George) and Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) recorded two wins each as well. Tomlin recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 Singles, while Jesseman had a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 Singles. The pair teamed up for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

Sophomore Kelsie Grice (Hoover, Ala./Charlotte Country Day) won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 Singles and joined senior Angelina Sportelli (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) to eke out an 8-6 win at No. 1 Doubles.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Thursday, April 2 at 4 p.m. at home against Division II Virginia Union.
