Delmas Leads R-MC Women's Tennis Past Goucher 9-0

BALTIMORE, Md. – The R-MC women's team defeated Goucher College 9-0 on Thursday afternoon. Senior Caitlin Delmas (Asheville, N.C./ K-12 International Academy) had an outstanding day for the Yellow Jackets, picking up wins at #1 doubles and #1 singles.

The Yellow Jackets are now 9-1 overall while the Gophers fall to 3-5. 

R-MC swept the Gophers 3-0 in doubles. Delmas and senior partner Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./ Varina) won 8-2 at the number one flight. Also winning, were the pairs of senior Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George) and Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./ Warhill) and partners freshman Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va./ Wilson Memorial) and sophomore Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va/ Robinson Seconday).

At number one singles Delmas picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over Mandile Mpofu. At the number two singles spot was sophomore Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va./ York), who won her match 6-2, 6-1.

Also picking up wins in singles was senior Tomlin, who won 6-0, 6-1, freshman Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va./ York) 6-0, 6-2, Jesseman winning 6-3, 7-5 and McDonald with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 score.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in ODAC action on Saturday with a road match against Roanoke starting at 10 a.m.
