ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon baseball fell in non-conference action as they were defeated 8-0 by York (Pa.) College today on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.
The Yellow Jackets (9-7, 5-1) fell behind early as the Spartans (7-2) posted a three spot in the first inning on four hits. Starting pitcher Jamie Hendrick (3-1) would shut out YC for the next two innings before a two run, two hit rally in the fourth would extend their lead to 5-0.
R-MC looked to its bullpen five times but the Spartans would record three more runs in four innings to top the Jackets 8-0. Hendrick finished the day with four strikeouts in five innings. Tim Benjamin (Glenelg, MD / Glenelg) and Michael Trentham (Midlothian, VA / James River) were each 2-for-4, tallying four of the Jackets' eight hits on the day.
The Randolph-Macon baseball team travels to Hampden-Sydney this Tuesday for a 3:30 ODAC game. The Yellow Jackets return home Thursday March, 20 to host Mary Washington for a 3:30 non-conference matchup.
