SALEM, Va. – Junior Nick Maiolo (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) had four hits, including a home run, as the No. 10 Randolph-Macon baseball team dropped an ODAC doubleheader at Roanoke on Sunday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (17-6, 8-6 ODAC) were shut out for the first time this season in the opener, 6-0. R-MC fell 9-2 in the nightcap.
Maiolo went 3 for 4 with a triple in Game 1, registering three of R-MC's five hits.
The Maroons (13-7, 8-3 ODAC) scored single runs in the first two innings before posting three in the third.
R-MC took the early lead in Game 2 as sophomore Stuart Brown (Midlothian, Va./Trinity) delivered an RBI single in the top of the second. Roanoke tied it with one in the third and took a 3-1 lead with two in the sixth. Maiolo homered in the top of the eighth to make it a one-run contest before the Maroons put the game away with six runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Tuesday, April 7 for a 3:30 p.m. home contest against Christopher Newport.
