ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore Jake Connolly (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) caught an eight-yard touchdown pass from senior Zac Naccarato (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) in the first quarter, but Guilford would fight back for a 28-6 ODAC victory Saturday afternoon in front of a Homecoming crowd of 3,233 at Day Field.
Connolly's TD catch capped a 12-play, 74-yard scoring drive in 4:36 to give the Yellow Jackets (3-4, 1-3) a 6-0 lead midway through the first period.
After missing a pair of first-quarter field goals, the Quakers (6-1, 3-1) took a 7-6 lead midway through the second period. Guilford added a touchdown in the third quarter and two in the final period for the 28-6 victory.
Naccarato led all rushers with 127 yards on the ground on 22 carries. Junior John Byrd (Manassas Park, Va./Manassas Park) also eclipsed the century mark, gaining 101 yards on 20 carries.
Senior Tom Solak (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) and freshman Ryan Burns (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) both had six solo tackles and eight total stops for the Yellow Jackets. Solak also had 1.5 tackles for loss.
Guilford quarterback Matt Pawlowski completed 24 of 38 passes for 386 yards and two scores.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. at Shenandoah.
