ASHLAND, Va. - Senior Michael Farry (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) had 12 tackles, including 10 solo stops, as the Randolph-Macon football recorded its second shutout of the season with a 21-0 ODAC victory over Bridgewater Saturday afternoon at soggy Day Field.

The Yellow Jackets (5-0, 2-0 ODAC) extended their win streak to eight games, their longest since winning eight in 1985-86. R-MC is the lone remaining undefeated team in the ODAC and the Yellow Jackets are tied with Washington and Lee

The R-MC defense held the Eagles (2-3, 1-1 ODAC) to five first downs and 83 total yards (28 rushing, 55 passing).

The Yellow Jackets started their second drive on their own 26. Sophomore Tre Frederick (Angier, N.C./West Johnston) carried the ball on the first three plays for 19 yards. Sophomore Eric Hoy (Clayton, N.C./Clayton) was the rusher on the next three plays for 28 yards. Frederick carried the ball for the next three plays for 27 yards, including a 20-yard TD run as R-MC took a 7-0 with 2:17 remaining in the first period.

Early in the second quarter, R-MC moved the ball to the BC 12, but a missed 29-yard field goal kept the score at 7-0, where it would stay at halftime.

On their first drive of the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets drove to the BC 19, but a fumble ended the threat.

Midway through the third, R-MC stopped the Eagles on downs at the BC 40. The Yellow Jackets needed nine plays to reach the end zone, as Frederick scored from two-yards out to push the advantage to 14-0 with 1:32 left in the third period.

With 9:20 left in the fourth quarter, Farry sacked BC quarterback Jay Scroggins on a fourth-down play at the R-MC 46. Sophomore quarterback Joseph Vairo (Coral Springs, Fla./Westminster Academy) hit sophomore Owen Ritter (York, Pa./Dallastown) on a 38-yard scoring strike with 7:18 remaining to give the home team a 21-0 advantage.

Senior Cole Burdette (Frederick, Md./Urbana) had six tackles, including two tackles for loss, for the R-MC defense. Senior Tom Buchanan (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) had four tackles, including three for losses of 27 yards. He had a pair of quarterback sacks for losses of 17 yards.

Vairo completed 11 of 21 passes for 186 yards and one score. Frederick carried the ball 27 times for 76 yards and two TDs. Hoy had 12 carries for 75 yards. He also had five receptions for 31 yards. Ritter finished with four catches for 102 yards and one touchdown.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, with a 1 p.m. ODAC contest at Emory & Henry.
