Balanced Offensive Attack Drives R-MC to a 4-3 Victory Over FSU

ASHLAND, VA – R-MC took advantage of four goals from four different players as it defeats Frostburg State University, 4-3, on Thursday afternoon.  R-MC improves to 4-7 overall as FSU falls to 5-9.

The Yellow Jackets controlled the first half with three goals in under 20 minutes. Catherine Pricone put R-MC on the board first, just seven minutes into the game, off an assist from Lauren Seal.

Mackenzie Turner gave R-MC the 2-0 lead less than seven minutes later off a corner taken by Carrie Jacobs. Olivia Newman closed out the first half scoring with an unassisted goal at the 19 minute mark to give the Yellow Jackets a 3-0 lead.

In the second stanza, Frostburg's Rachel Merritt would put the Bobcats on the board with an unassisted goal at the 46 minute mark. Jacobs' would answer four minutes later, off another Seal assist, to notch her eighth goal of the season.

Alli Elliott and Ashley Johnson would score the last goals of the match for Frostburg to bring the Bobcats within one, but that is as close as they would get.

Nicole Woodworth took the win in goal for the Yellow Jackets, recording 12 saves. Shannon McMurray also saw time between the pipes and recorded two saves on the afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action as they play host to Virginia Wesleyan on October 7th at 1:00 p.m.
