Challenging Schedule Awaits R-MC Field Hockey

ASHLAND, Va. - Family Weekend and Homecoming contests highlight the 2017 schedule for the Randolph-Macon field hockey team.

Under second-year head coach Jessica Weiss, the Yellow Jackets will start the season on the road. Following a scrimmage at Mary Washington on Aug. 29, R-MC will open the regular season at St. Mary's on Sept. 6. The Yellow Jackets will play in Frostburg State's tournament, facing the host on Sept. 8 and Ohio Wesleyan on Sept. 9. R-MC will travel to Ferrum on Sept. 13 and to Goucher on Sept. 16.

The home opener for the Yellow Jackets will be on Sept. 19 against Wilson. R-MC will entertain Christopher Newport on Sept. 21 on Day Field and will kick off ODAC play on Day Field as well on Sept. 24 against Eastern Mennonite. The Yellow Jackets will head to Fredericksburg on Sept. 28 for a non-conference contest at Mary Washington before hosting Bridgewater on Sept. 30 on Day Field for Family Weekend.

October presents a challenging first week, as R-MC plays at defending ODAC champion Shenandoah on Oct. 4 and ODAC tourney runner-up Washington and Lee on Oct. 7. The Yellow Jackets will host Sweet Briar on Oct. 11 before Centre comes to the Center of the Universe on Oct. 14. R-MC has its final non-conference contest on Oct. 16 at Susquehanna before ODAC road contests at Virginia Wesleyan on Oct. 18 and at regular-season champion Lynchburg on Oct. 21. The regular season concludes on Oct. 28 against Roanoke on Day Field. The Yellow Jackets will celebrate Homecoming and Senior Night against the Maroons.
