LEXINGTON, Va. – Freshman Maria Teresa Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) scored twice but Washington & Lee beat Randolph-Macon 8-3 during a Saturday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference tilt.

Washington & Lee opened the scoring less than a minute into play and scored another one around eight minutes in.

With the score 2-0 in favor of the Generals, R-MC got one back as freshman Madison McCoy (Fredericksburg, Va. / Stafford) passed into the circle where Ambrogi-Torres beat the keeper in a 1-on-1 situation. McCoy was credited with the assist.

The Generals would score again before the end of the half taking the 3-1 lead into halftime.

W&L opened the scoring in the second half as well with a score about three and a half minutes into the frame. Not more than two minutes later, the Yellow Jackets pushed closer. Senior Victoria Cappadora (Manchester, Md. / Manchester Valley snuck it inside the goal via a deflection on a pass from Ambrogi-Torres following a penalty corner. Ambrogi-Torres got the assist credit, her third of the season, while Cappadora scored her second goal of the year.

W&L would add another one taking the score to 5-2 when R-MC struck for another goal. Ambrogi-Torres took the shot from center of the circle and put it inside the corner of the cage to bring the game within two score. But W&L turned on the jets and scored three goals in the last ten minutes of play to end the game with the 8-3 advantage.

With the two goals today, Ambrogi-Torres now has four on the season and is also R-MC's shot leader with 26.

R-MC was outshot by the Generals 28-6. Both teams equaled their own first half shots in the second frame – three in each half for R-MC and 14 for W&L. Ambrogi-Torres was R-MC's shot leader, taking four with all of them coming on goal. Besides Cappadora's goal, R-MC also got a shot from freshman Jessica Cooke (Williamsburg, Va. / Warhill).

R-MC's goalkeeper, sophomore Ariel Salerno (Suffolk, Va. / Lakeland) tallied nine saves on the 17 shots on goal that she faced.
