Cappadora, Healy Score for R-MC Field Hockey vs. Roanoke

ASHLAND, Va. - Senior Victoria Cappadora (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) scored on Senior Night as the Randolph-Macon field hockey team fell 4-2 to Roanoke in ODAC action Saturday evening on Day Field.

Freshman Ayanna Healy (Newport News, Va./Woodside) also notched a goal for the Yellow Jackets (6-12, 2-5 ODAC) against the Maroons (13-4, 5-2 ODAC).

RC scored less than five minutes into the game to take the early lead. That would be the lone goal of the first half as the Maroons led 1-0 at intermission.

The visitors scored again in the 40th minute to take a 2-0 advantage. R-MC stormed back as Healy put in a rebounded shot in the 43rd minute to make it a 2-1 contest. It was her third goal of the season. Cappadora finished a saved shot in the 44th minute to level the score at 2-2. It was her team-leading 10th goal of the season.

The Maroons broke the tie in the 60th minute and added an insurance goal in the in the 68th minute to make the final 4-2.

Healy paced the Yellow Jackets with two shots, both on goal.

Senior Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, Va./Louisa County) recorded seven saves, including five in the first half.

Randolph-Macon will be the No. 6 Seed in the 2017 ODAC Championship and will play at No. 3 Roanoke on Tuesday, Oct. 31 in the quarterfinals.
