LEXINGTON, VA -- Washington and Lee allowed just 16 field goals as the Generals snapped Randolph-Macon's 11 game winning streak with a 78-56 ODAC Men's Basketball win in Lexington on Saturday afternoon.
No. 21 R-MC (17-4 / 10-3 ODAC) shot 29.6% for the game, converting on 16-of-54 attempts from the field. The Yellow Jackets made just 5-of-26 (19.2%) field goals in the first stanza, allowing the Generals, who made 13-of-28 of their attempts, to take a 37-21 lead at intermission.
Randolph-Macon rallied in the second-half, using a 12-3 run to cut its deficit to single digits at 47-38 after an Andre Simon layup with 13:20 to go.
W&L (12-9 / 5-7 ODAC) would make six of their next eight shots from the field which sparked what proved to a 16-6 run that put the game away for the Generals.
Marcus Badger led the Yellow Jackets with 14 points, including 6-of-6 shooting from the line. Simon added 12 points off the bench and Adam Desgain had 10 points. Calvin Croskey tossed in seven points and had four steals.
W&L's Javon McDonald led all scorers with 16 points. J.D. Ey recorded his league-leading seventh double double of the season with 14 points and 17 rebounds. Jeremy Adkins also finished with 14 points, Larry Whitaker chipped in 11 and sophomore guard Kevin Gill contributed 10 markers off the bench. Ey and Whitaker helped Washington and Lee to a 43-25 edge on the glass.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts No. 3 and ODAC leader Virginia Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m.
