Joe Meehan has completed two seasons at R-MC as an assistant coach in a position financed by the Hal Nunnally Endowed Fund for Men's Basketball.
The Yellow Jackets enjoyed one of their most successful seasons this past year with Meehan on the bench. R-MC went 28-3, matching the program record for victories in a season. After a 3-2 start, the Yellow Jackets won 25 consecutive games, a school record. R-MC went 16-0 in ODAC contests and became the first school in conference history to go undefeated during the regular season and win the conference tournament. The Yellow Jackets reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Nathan Davis was named ODAC Coach of the Year for the second straight year and was named South District Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
During the summer of 2014, Meehan was the head coach of a collegiate all-star team that toured Europe. The squad included R-MC seniors Marcus Badger and Chris Hamilton. The five-game tour of Belgium, Holland and England was made possible through Global Sports Academy. Meehan made a similar trip as a player in the summer of 2011.
In late May of 2015, Meehan will coach a collegiate all-star team in Switzerland and Italy through Global Sports Academy.
R-MC went 20-7 during the 2013-14 campaign in Meehan's first year, including 14-2 in ODAC play. The Yellow Jackets won the regular-season title in the ODAC and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Davis was named ODAC Coach of the Year.
Meehan is an active coach with Hoop Group throughout the year and a Hoop Group Elite Camp coach during the summer. Hoop Group is a worldwide leader in basketball instruction.
Meehan played four years at Lebanon Valley College, graduating in 2012 with a degree in biology. He averaged 18.4 points, 6.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 steals per collegiate contest. Meehan played in 105 games and tallied more than 1,600 points, 500 assists and 200 steals. The point guard was a three-year captain and three-time all-conference performer after earning Rookie-of-the-Year and Freshman All-America honors. Meehan was a D3hoops.com Preseason All-American prior to his senior campaign. He was twice named second team all-region and was selected ECAC Most Outstanding Player.
A native of Harleysville, Pa., Meehan played professionally this past year in Switzerland for Basketball Club Kusnacht-Erlenbach (BCKE) of LnB Suisse Basketball League. He averaged 18 points, five assists and four steals per game. Meehan also coached a semi-professional team while in Switzerland.
Meehan was a Dean’s List student at Lebanon Valley and was accepted into the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Biomedical Sciences/Medical School Post-Baccalaureate Program. He was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) leadership program while at LVC.
