McDonagh Leads R-MC Men's Golf at TaylorMade Intercollegiate

BEAUFORT, S.C. - Randolph-Macon senior Matt McDonagh (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) was 28th out of 97 individuals following the third and final round of the TaylorMade Intercollegiate at the Dataw Island Club, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan College.

The Yellow Jackets were 11th out of 14 squads in the teams standings. There were three other ODAC teams participating. R-MC finished ahead of No. 12 Lynchburg and No. 14 Shenandoah. The Yellow Jackets were nine shots behind No. 7 Virginia Wesleyan.

McDonagh improved each round for a final total of 239 (81-80-78). On the first seven holes of Round 3, McDonagh had three birdies and four pars.

Senior Kirby Struhar (Sterling, Va./Park View) tied for 40th at 243 (78-83-82), followed by senior Peter Shaner (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) at 245 (86-82-77), junior Chase Childers (Issue, Md./La Plata) at 246 (81-81-84) and sophomore Alex Nelson (Weems, Va./Lancaster) at 249 (82-88-79). Shaner had eight pars and one bogey on the front nine in Round 3, and a pair of birdies on the back nine. Childers had seven pars and two bogeys on the front in the final round. Nelson also had seven pars and two bogeys on the front in Round 3.

Randolph-Macon returns to action March 23-25 at the Camp Lejeune (N.C.) Marine Corps Invitational at Paradise Point Golf Club.
