Nelson, R-MC Men's Golf Place Second at Glenn Heath Memorial

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Sophomore Alex Nelson (Weems, Va./Lancaster) tied for second out of 88 individuals, helping the Randolph-Macon men's golf team finish second out of 13 teams at the 2018 Glenn Heath Memorial at the Williamsburg Club.

The Yellow Jackets compiled a score of 314 to lead after Day 1. Their total of 626 for two rounds was second-best. R-MC finished ahead of six other ODAC schools.

Nelson shot one-over 73 in Round 1 to hold a share of the lead. He shot 78 in Round 2 for a total of 151, one shot behind medalist Doc Schulte of Shenandoah.

All five R-MC golfers finished in the Top 20. Junior Trey Razzetti (Glen Allen, Va./Benedictine) tied for ninth at 157 (81-76). Senior Matt McDonagh (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) tied for 14th at 159 (80-79). Senior Kirby Struhar (Sterling, Va./Park View) and junior Chase Childers (Issue, Md./La Plata) both tied for 20th at 161. Struhar shot 80-81, while Childers went 82-79.

Randolph-Macon will compete April 14-15 at the Marlin Invitational at the Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk, Va., prior to the ODAC Championships April 22-24 at the Bryan Park Golf Club in Greensboro, N.C.
