R-MC Men’s Golf Leads after Round 1 of Ted Keller Memorial

ASHLAND, Va. – Freshman Ryan Fernandez (Selangor, Malaysia) shot one-over 72, while senior Chase Childers (Issue, Md./La Plata) and junior Alex Nelson (Weems, Va./Lancaster) both shot two-over 73, to help the Randolph-Macon men's golf team sit in first place out of 10 teams after the first round of the Ted Keller Memorial Monday at the Hanover Golf Club.

The Yellow Jackets hold a two-stroke lead over Franklin & Marshall.

After pars on his first 10 holes, Fernandez had bogeys on No. 11 and No. 13. He got one stroke back with a birdie on No. 15. He parred the final three holes for his total of 72.

Childers had three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 15 and No. 16.

Nelson birdied No. 4 to go one-under, but three bogeys the rest of the way put him at 2-over 73.
