VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Senior Trey Razzetti (Glen Allen, Va./Benedictine) fired a 2-under 70 to sit second out of 93 individuals as the Randolph-Macon men's golf team leads a group of 16 teams after the first round of the VSGA Intercollegiate Championship at the Sleepy Hole Golf Course.
The Yellow Jackets top the team standings for the second straight event. They led after the first round of the Ted Keller Memorial before finishing third out of 10 teams.
Razzetti has five birdies and three bogeys, with four birdies and no bogeys on the back nine. He trails Sebastian Bonte of Mary Washington by one stroke.
Freshman Ryan Fernandez (Selangor, Malaysia) shot 1-over 73 and is tied for sixth. He carded five birdies, four bogeys and one double bogey. Fernandez had consecutive birdies on No. 10 and No. 11.
Junior Alex Nelson (Weems, Va./Lancaster) tied for 18th at 77. He had one birdie during his opening round.
Senior Chase Childers (Issue, Md./La Plata) tied for 26th at 78. He recorded a pair of birdies on the front nine.
Junior Tom Schaffer (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) tied for 38th at 79. He had a birdie on No. 15.
The second and final round will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
