R-MC Men's Golf Sits 10th after Round 1 of O'Briant-Jensen

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Randolph-Macon men's golf team steadily moved up to place 10th out of 18 teams Monday after the first round of the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial at the Sedgefield Country Club.

Eight of the 18 teams are ranked in the Top 50 nationally.

Junior Alex Nelson (Weems, Va./Lancaster) tied for 22nd at 3-over 74. He carded a pair of birdies on the back nine and recorded 12 pars during his round.

Senior Trey Razzetti (Glen Allen, Va./Benedictine) shot 78. He had three birdies and five pars.

Senior Chase Childers (Issue, Md./La Plata) was one stroke behind Razzetti at 79. He registered a pair of birdies and eight pars.

Freshman Ryan Fernandez (Selangor, Malaysia) finished Round 1 at 81. He had 10 pars, including six on the back nine.

Junior Tom Schaffer (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) shot 90 in the first round. He had four pars on Monday.

The second and final round will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
