Muncie, Mayer Make R-MC Men's Lacrosse Victors over St. Mary's 8-6

Senior Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) recorded a season-high 15 saves for the Yellow Jackets (3-3).

Muncie scored 4:14 into the contest for the Yellow Jackets, the only goal of the first quarter.

After the Seahawks (0-6) tallied a man-up goal 19 seconds into the second quarter to level the score at 1-1, Mayer came up with a turnover and fed freshman Colin Disesa (Ashland, Va./Hanover), who scored a man-up goal to put R-MC ahead 2-1 with 12:11 left before halftime. SMC tallied the final two goals of the period to take a 3-2 advantage at the break.

Junior Alex Camilliere (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) netted the equalizer with 7:05 left in the third quarter to even the score at 3-3. The Yellow Jackets would score three in the final two minutes of the period, with Muncie netting two and freshman Andrew Hogg (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) scored with 6.4 second left on an assist by Mayer as R-MC took a 6-3 advantage after three quarters.

Disesa scored 31 seconds into the final period on a pass from Mayer as the Yellow Jackets took their largest lead at 7-3. The Seahawks scored the next three goals and pulled with one at 7-6 with 6:30 remaining. Junior Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) scored on a behind-the-head shot on a pass from Mayer with five seconds left on the shot clock and 1:37 remaining on the game clock to make it an 8-6 contest, which would be the final score.

Freshman Tyler Flora (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) paced R-MC with five ground balls, while Mayer and sophomore Lee Pratt (Winston-Salem, N.C./Ronald Reagan) both had four ground balls. Mayer and sophomore Austin Evans (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) both had two caused turnovers.

Randolph-Macon begins ODAC play at home on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Guilford at Day Field.
