Davies Makes Eight Saves in Yellow Jackets' 6-4 Victory over Guilford

ASHLAND, Va. – Senior goalie Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./ E.C. Glass) led the Yellow Jackets to a 6-4 victory over Guilford with eight saves on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets improve to 4-3 and 1-0 in the ODAC while the Quakers fall to 3-3 and 0-1 in conference play.

The visitors scored the first goal of the contest with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets then responded with two goals from seniors David Cryster (Mechanicsville, Va./ Hanover) and Mitch Behl (Glen Allen, Va./ Deep Run).

R-MC would shutout the Quakers in the second quarter and increase its lead to 3-1 before halftime. Junior Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./ Roswell) scored his 10th goal of the season. He finished with two goals and an assist.

In the third period, R-MC came out hot and increased its lead to 6-1. Junior Miles Muncie (Midlothian, Va./ Midlothian), Keepers and freshman Colin Disesa (Ashland, Va./ Hanover) all scored.

The Quakers made an attempt of a comeback and score three times, making the score 6-4. The Yellow Jackets defended well in the fourth quarter and Davies came up with some big saves to earn the first ODAC win of the season.

Freshman Joe Maranto (Joppa, Md./ Fallston) went 9 of 14 from the face offs, he also led the team in ground balls with four. Muncie also picked up four ground balls, he had a goal and an assist in the game.  

Freshman midfielder Tyler Flora (Mechanicsville, Va./ Hanover) led the Jackets in caused turnovers with two, he also picked up two ground balls.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, March 18 for a road game against Randolph at 1 p.m.
