Camilliere Scores Five, R-MC Comes From Behind to Beat Bridgewater

ASHLAND, Va. – The R-MC men's lacrosse team came from behind in the fourth quarter to earn a 9-8 victory over Bridgewater on Saturday afternoon. R-MC trailed 7-4 in the fourth quarter, but scored five of the next six goals to win the contest.

Junior Alex Camilliere (Huntingtown, Md./ Huntingtown) scored five goals in the game, including two in the fourth period.

The R-MC defense had an outstanding game, led by sophomore defender Austin Evans (Glen Allen, Va./ Glen Allen) who forced three turnovers from the Eagles. Bridgewater had 19 turnovers in the game. Senior goalie Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./ E.C. Glass) had another stand-out game, making 10 saves on 18 shots on goal.

Camilliere scored his first and the game's first goal of the game in the fourth minute of the contest. R-MC and Bridgewater were tied after one period.

The Yellow Jackets outscored the Eagles 2-1 in the second period. Camilliere scored his second of the game and junior Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./ Roswell) scored his 21st goal of the season in the period to take a 3-2 lead into haltime. 

Freshman Colin Disesa (Ashland, Va./ Hanover) scored the first goal of the second half and increased the lead to 4-2. The Eagles then went on five goal run in the third and fourth quarters.

R-MC trailed 7-4 with 14 minutes remaining in the game. Following Bridgewater's seventh goal, R-MC received two penalties for slashing. With the Yellow Jackets trailing 7-4 and down two men, junior Miles Muncie (Midlothian, Va./ Midlothian) won the face off, picked up the ground ball, ran down the field and scored to get R-MC back in the game.

R-MC then took the lead in the game from senior Sam Mayer (Severna Park, Md./ Severna Park) from an assist off of freshman Davis Hitt (Annapolis, Md./ Annapolis).

The Eagles then equalized at 8-8 with four minutes remaining in the game. The winning goal came from Camilliere, who scored his fifth of the game, off of a great pass from freshman defender Matt Killpatrick (Millersville, Md./ Severna Park).

The Yellow Jackets improve to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in the ODAC, while the Eagles fall to 5-5 and 1-2 in the conference.

R-MC will be back in action on Saturday, April 8 for a home ODAC match against Lynchburg at 1 p.m.
