LYNCHBURG, Va. – Senior Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./ E.C. Glass) and junior Miles Muncie (Midlothian, Va./ Midlothian) both reached career milestones in R-MC's 9-5 loss in the ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament to Lynchburg. Davies recorded 14 saves and has reached the 700 save mark in his four-year career, while Muncie scored three goals, bringing his career points total to 101.
R-MC finishes the 2017 season with an 8-10 record and falls to #16 nationally ranked Lynchburg (12-5) in the quarterfinal matchup.
Senior Sam Mayer (Severna Park, Md./ Severna Park) finished his career by adding three assists, bringing his season assist tally to a team high and ODAC second best, 44. Mayer recorded an impressive 113 points and 104 ground balls in his time as a Yellow Jacket.
Lynchburg outscored R-MC 5-0 in the first two periods of the game. R-MC outscored the Hornets in the second half 5-4.
R-MC were trailing 6-0 before scoring three straight goals to bring the team back into the game, Muncie scored the first two goals, with junior Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./ Roswell) assisting the second and then scoring the third goal for R-MC.
In the final period, junior Coleman Adams (Mechanicsville, Va./ St. Christopher's) and Muncie added one goal each, both assisted by Mayer.
Senior David Cryster (Mechanicsville, Va./ Hanover) led the defensive line for R-MC as he and sophomore Austin Evans (Glen Allen, Va./ Glen Allen) both forced two turnovers. Cryster picked up a team high six ground balls, while Evans had four.
Freshman Joe Maranto (Joppa, Md./ Fallston) had a productive game with face offs, winning 11 of 16 and picking up five ground balls.
Davies made 14 saves, bringing his four-year total saves tally to 712.
Lynchburg advances to the ODAC semifinals where it will take on #15 Roanoke on Friday.
