BALTIMORE – Senior Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) and sophomore Colin DiSesa (Ashland, Va./Hanover) each scored twice in the first half to help create separation with Haverford in a neutral site competition on Saturday afternoon in Baltimore. In addition to his two goals, DiSesa added a pair of assists. R-MC (2-3) used a second quarter to push ahead after Haverford took the early lead before winning 5-3.
The Fords got on the board first, with a pair of goals at 3:35 and 1:46 to go in the first period. Randolph-Macon was able to sneak a goal in before the end of the period as DiSesa (Ashland, Va./Hanover) sent the ball into the net with 24 seconds left.
Much like the first quarter, most of the scoring came in the waning minutes of play. Keepers (Roswell, GA / Roswell) scored his first of the period with 5:10 remaining. His goal was followed just around a minute and a half later, as with 3:43 left, DiSesa fired off a shot that made it in after a pass from senior Alex Camilliere (Huntingtown, MD / Huntingtown). DiSesa and Keepers kept the offensive effort going strong as the two hooked up for a goal with 38 seconds left in the second. DiSesa set up the pass that Keepers fired into goal to give R-MC the 4-2 halftime advantage.
Both teams scored in the third, with Haverford cutting the Yellow Jacket lead to 4-3 with a goal at 4:41. R-MC did not take long to answer for what would be the final goal of the game. Sophomore Ryan Tiffey (Colombia, Md. / Wilde Lake) scored on a pass from DiSesa with 2:39 left and ensuring the 5-3 R-MC win.
Randolph-Macon held the faceoff advantage, winning 9 of 13. Junior Chris Cerrina (Ridgewood, NJ / Ridgewood) made ten saves in goal.
The Yellow Jackets will play at St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday at 3:00 PM.
