Breslin Records Seven Saves as R-MC Falls to UMW

ASHLAND, Va. - Freshman Brian Breslin (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) recorded seven saves in his collegiate debut as the Randolph-Macon men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision Tuesday afternoon at the R-MC Soccer Field in the season-opener for both clubs.

Breslin recorded three saves in the first half and four in the second.

The Yellow Jackets (0-1) had five shots on goal out of their seven overall shots. After the Eagles (1-0) scored in the 21st minute, senior Andrew Oakes (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) looked to have the equalizer in the 32nd minute. But UMW keeper Matt Spencer made a tremendous leaping save to keep the visitors on top.

The Eagles added their second goal in the 81st minute.

Oakes led the Yellow Jackets with two shots, including one on goal.

R-MC returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. at Marymount.
