EMORY, Va. – Junior Tyler Slayton (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) was one of four Yellow Jackets to score as the Randolph-Macon men's soccer team posted a 4-1 ODAC victory at Emory & Henry Saturday afternoon.
Slayton scored in the 25th minute on an assist by junior Jacob McHugh (Aberdeen, Md./West Nottingham Academy) to give the Yellow Jackets (5-3, 1-1 ODAC) the early lead. Senior Logan McHugh (Aberdeen, Md./West Nottingham Academy) found the back of the net late in the first half on an assist by freshman Matt Rannie (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) as R-MC took a 2-0 lead at intermission.
Freshman Diego Tacaraya (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton) scored early in the second half as the Yellow Jackets built a 3-0 advantage. Following a goal by the Wasps (2-3-2, 0-1-1) in the 51st minute, senior Andrew Oakes netted the final goal of the match in the 55th minute on an assist by junior Jack Maxey (Salem, Va./Salem) to make the final 4-1.
R-MC held a 21-7 advantage on shots, including 7-3 in shots on goal. Tacaraya paced the Yellow Jackets with seven shots, including three on goal.
Freshman Brian Breslin (Yorktown, Va./Grafton) recorded a pair of saves for R-MC.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 29, with a home contest against St. Mary's at 4:30 p.m.
