R-MC Men's Soccer Concludes Regular Season, Looks Ahead to ODAC Tournament

ASHLAND, Va.—Freshman Diego Tacaraya (Woodbridge, Va. / C.D. Hylton) recorded seven shots as the Randolph-Macon men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 ODAC decision to Bridgewater Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles (8-8-1, 5-6 ODAC) scored in the 23rd minute off a free kick and added another goal in the 74th minute to seal the victory.

The Yellow Jackets (9-9, 5-6 ODAC) held a 24-9 advantage in shots in the senior day contest. Seniors Andrew Oakes (Fredericksburg, Va. / Courtland), Greg Noordanus (Leiderdorp, Netherlands/ Cape Henry Collegiate) and Caleb Hatcher (West Point, Va. / West Point) each recorded two shots.

Sophomore Bryan Lutz (Fairfax, Va. / W. T. Woodson) added four shots for R-MC.

Freshman goalkeeper Brian Breslin (Fairfax, Va. / W. T. Woodson) registered one save.

The Yellow Jackets have concluded regular-season play and will be the seventh seed in the ODAC Tournament. This will be the first appearance in the postseason for the men's soccer program since 2011. R-MC has five conference wins this season. The last time the Yellow Jackets had more conference wins was 2000, when the team finished with a 6-3 ODAC record.

R-MC will travel to face second-seeded Randolph (11-4-3, 7-1-3 ODAC) in the quarterfinals of the ODAC tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The Yellow Jackets dropped a 2-0 decision to the Wildcats in the regular season.

The ODAC semifinals and championship will be played on Nov. 7-8 at the highest seed remaining after the quarterfinals.
