FOREST, Va. – Randolph-Macon's Christian Torres (Stafford, Va. / C.D. Hylton) was named Player of the Week as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Monday afternoon. The announcement caps off a stellar week for the Yellow Jackets which included two critical ODAC wins.
Torres, a sophomore, began his week with a score just four minutes into the Yellow Jackets' match with Virginia Wesleyan. Torres was able to draw the keeper away from the net, enough that the VWU keeper mishandled it and Torres had a clean opportunity to score. It marked his first goal of the season. R-MC beat VWU 4-0.
Against a strong team in Eastern Mennonite, Torres played a critical role again to keep R-MC's season pressing forward. He found the golden goal with three minutes remaining in the first overtime period, finishing a scrum at the front of the goal by nailing the ball into the upper back post. R-MC left Harrisonburg with the 2-1 victory.
The Yellow Jackets are 12-1 on the season and are 5-1 in conference play. They face Shenandoah in the final home match of the 2017 regular season tomorrow night at 7 PM at Day Field.
