YORK, Pa. - Freshman Victor Kontopanos (North Chesterfield, Va.) finished first in three events as the Randolph-Macon men's swimming team dropped a 151-103 decision at York on Saturday afternoon.
Kontopanos won the 200 Fly in 1:57.38. He took first in the 200 Breast in 2:15.88. Kontopanos claimed first in the 100 Fly with the second-best time of 52.99. He joined senior Bryan McCarthy (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale), junior Jordan Witherow (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) and sophomore Matt Howard (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) to take third in the 200 Medley Relay in 1:43.76.
Junior Connor Seif (Trent Woods, N.C./New Bern) placed second in the 1000 Free in 11:09.40.
Senior Alex Daube (Hampton, Va./Hampton) was second in the 100 Breast in 1:03.94.
Witherow took second in the 500 Free in 5:07.18. He was third in the 200 Free in 1:53.82. Witherow was also third in the 200 Fly in 2:08.60.
McCarthy took first-place points in the 200 IM with the third-best time of 2:12.13.
Randolph-Macon returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. for a home meet against Catholic. It will be Senior Day for the Yellow Jackets.
