FOREST, Va. - As the ODAC enters its fourth season sponsoring men's swimming, the membership doubles from five to 10 competing institutions.
Randolph-Macon finished third at the 2017 ODAC Championships after second-place finishes in 2015 and 2016. Also competing last year were Ferrum, Greensboro, Hampden-Sydney and Washington & Lee.
For the 2017-18 season, Bridgewater and Emory & Henry added men's programs to their existing women's teams. Randolph restarted its women's program and added a men's squad as well. Roanoke and Virginia Wesleyan added both men's and women's programs to their athletic departments.
The Yellow Jackets lost a pair of important seniors from a year ago: Josh Carter, All-ODAC Second Team, and Robert Redenz, the 2017 ODAC Swimmer of the Year. R-MC does return six all-conference performers from a season ago. Seniors Ivan Fadeyev (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) and Ealon Mann (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) were both All-ODAC First Team. Senior Bryan McCarthy (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) and junior Connor Seif (Trent Woods, N.C./New Bern) earned All-ODAC Second Team honors. Senior Alex Daube (Hampton, Va./Hampton) and sophomore Sam Runner (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) were All-ODAC Third Team.
Under seven-year head coach Brent Kintzer, Randolph-Macon begins competition on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the ODAC Relay Meet in Lexington, Va. Dual meets get underway the following weekend, with the Yellow Jackets traveling to Mary Washington on Friday, Oct. 20 and hosting Washington & Lee on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
