Boyer Helps R-MC Men's Swimming Sit Third at ODAC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Freshman Wyatt Boyer (Irmo, S.C./Dutch Fork) took second in the 500 Free and was part of two relay teams as the Randolph-Macon men's swimming team sat in third after Day 1 of the ODAC Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

In the first individual event, Boyer finished second in the 500 Free in 4:41.13. He was part of the fourth-place 200 Free Relay with freshman Joe Stephens (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford), freshman Andy McCarthy (Hampton, Va./Hampton) and freshman Shane Morison (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park). The group finished in 1:26.22.

In the day's final event, Boyer teamed with Stephens, sophomore Victor Kontopanos (North Chesterfield, Va./Home School) and senior Bryan McCarthy (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) to take second in the 400 Medley Relay in 3:30.31.

Kontopanos rallied in the final 15 yards to take third in the 500 Free in 4:42.87.

Stephens finished 10th in the 50 Free in 21.93. Morison was just behind in 11th in a personal-best time of 21.94. Andy McCarthy was 12th in 22.37. All three times were Top 10 Times.

In the first leg of the 200 Free Relay, Stephens covered the 50 yards in a personal-best time of 21.49. In the 400 Medley Relay, Stephens swam the 100 Back in a personal-best time of 52.21.
