R-MC Men’s Tennis Knocks off Catholic University 5-3

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Randolph-Macon Men's Tennis scored a 5-3 victory over Catholic University Monday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets conclude their 2013 regular season Tuesday, April 16th when they travel to Lynchburg for a 3:00 match.

Jody Cox and Richard Brock picked up the only R-MC doubles victory when they defeated Joe Trinity and Schulyer Hayward 8-3.

Trailing 2-1 after doubles competition, Randolph-Macon needed four wins in single play to take the match.

Connor Hoerr won the first of those four matches when he battled for a 7-6 (14-12), 7-5 (10-2) victory over Catholic's top singles player Cassian Utrie.

R-MC's Michael Baxter knocked off Kyle Kramer at the No. 2 singles position 6-3, 6-4.

John Adam picked up a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles and Ira Usry rounded out the Yellow Jackets' victory by defeating Jason Quisberth 6-3, 6-4.

Randolph-Macon improves to 9-12 overall with a 3-6 mark in conference play.
