GREENSBORO, N.C. – The match came down to the wire, but Men's Tennis was not able to overcome the Guilford Quakers in Monday afternoon Old Dominion Athletic Conference action in Greensboro.

How It Happened
- In doubles action, Guilford took two of three. Quaker No. 1 group of Mason Robb and Elijah Gregory bested junior Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin) and freshman Ryan Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) 8-5. GC No. 2 duo of Joe Horne and Jay Montague also got ahead of senior Jacob Haines (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) and Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va. / James River) 8-1. Randolph-Macon No. 3 pairing of sophomore Alex Hein (Windermere, Fla. / Windermere Preparatory School) and Erik Moulton (Yorktown, Va. / York) won their match against Tim Thompson and Logan Glass, sending the score to a 2-1 GC lead heading into singles play.
- R-MC got a victory in No. 1 Singles as Sarver defeated Robb 6-4, 6-3. The Yellow Jackets also secured wins at No. 5 Singles as Aud remained undefeated this season in singles, winning 7-6, 6-2. Moulton also defeated Glass in No. 6 Singles 6-1, 6-2.
- Guilford took wins at No. 2 Singles as Gregory won against Haines 6-0, 6-3 and at No. 4 Singles as Montague won against Berry 6-0, 6-3, which knotted the overall match score at 4-4.
- The match came down to No. 3 singles where Horne and Hein battled for a full three sets. Hein won the first set 7-5, but Horne defeated Hein in the second set 6-1. In the full third set, Horne emerged victorious, winning the set 6-0 and securing the match for Guilford 5-4.
Randolph-Macon will face Hampden-Sydney on Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Banks Tennis Center in Ashland.
