Men’s Tennis Takes Bridgewater To The Wire

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Randolph-Macon Men's Tennis took Bridgewater to the final match of the day, but ultimately it was the Eagles who came away the victors as BC defeated Randolph-Macon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup Saturday.

How It Happened

  • Sophomores Alex Hein (Windermere, Fla. / Windermere Preparatory School) and Erik Moulton (Yorktown, Va. / York) defeated their No. 3 Doubles counterparts Nick Kiser and Robert Williard 8-4 in the first doubles match to conclude. But Bridgewater was able to take the edge into singles play, earning 8-5 wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
  • In singles play, Canon Secord defeated junior Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin) in No. 1 Singles, winning 6-3, 6-1.
  • Hein was bested by Roberts 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 Singles, giving Bridgewater the 4-1 advantage.
  • But R-MC then tied the match with three straight wins. Senior Jacob Haines (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) gave the Yellow Jackets a victory at No. 2 Singles as he defeated Matthew Gordon 7-5, 6-3.
  • Freshman Ryan Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) finished next, defeating Kiser 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 Singles.
  • Moulton tied the match with a No. 6 Singles sweep of Tyler Kolaskie 6-0, 6-0.
  • Bridgewater closed out the win with a three-set victory at No. 4 Singles as Sonet Gandhi defeated senior Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va. / James River), 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
