Randolph-Macon 3, Mount Union 1
Randolph-Macon defeated the Raiders with a terrific attack, which saw R-MC hit above .400 in the first and second sets and .382 for the entire match. R-MC fought off a 6-0 run by Mt. Union early in the first set and got as close as two points late in the frame, but eventually fell 21-25.
But from then on, R-MC had control of the match. The Yellow Jackets scored a 6-0 run in the second set and then closed out from an 18-10 lead to finishing the set ahead 25-11, allowing just one more point to the Raiders.
The third set was more contentious, but R-MC was able to edge out Mt. Union late with a 7-3 run to finish the set with a 25-20.
In the fourth set, R-MC came from behind after going down 12-15. A 7-1 run late helped give R-MC a lead before the Raiders tied the match at 24-24. The set needed a two-point decider as the teams battled to a 27-25 R-MC victory, which completed the match win for the Yellow Jackets.

Misericordia 3, Randolph-Macon 0
A rematch from last weekend's season opener did not fall the Yellow Jackets' way. The hosting Cougars hit .243 en route to the win. The teams were close through the whole match, but especially in the first set, R-MC tallied ties at 13-13, 22-22 and 23-23, but MU scored three of the last four to win 26-24.
The tight contest continued into the second set, with the set seeing ties at 10-10 and 11-11. But Misericordia continued to push forward and eventually won 25-19.
Randolph-Macon got an early lead in the third set and kept it close for much of the period. But a pair of 3-0 runs through the middle parts of the frame helped the Cougars stay ahead. MU finished the frame out with the 25-18 victory.
Corban Jungers led the team with ten kills, followed by Olenyik with nine. Owen Jungers threw in 19 assists. Logan led the team with 16 digs. R-MC got three blocks from freshman Dayne Iverson (Pasco, Wash. / Chiawana) and two each from Sampson and freshman Scotty Carter (Virginia Beach, Va. / Frank W. Cox). Freshman Merrick Gessler (Virginia Beach, Va. / Frank W. Cox) scored R-MC's lone service ace for the match.
Carter and Olenyik were honored by the Kick-Off Classic coaches as members of the All-Tournament team. After going 3-1 in the tournament, R-MC was one of just two teams out of the six participating teams to get multiple representatives on the All-Tourney team.
Randolph-Macon will play its first Continental Volleyball Conference matches next weekend. The team will face Neumann on Friday night at 7:00 PM in Aston, Pa. That will be followed by a conference tilt at Cairn in Langhorne, Pa. at 12:00 Noon on Saturday afternoon.
